In this series of photographs: BLACK PLAY WITH WHITE SPIRITS, I looked to explore the grey space in our world. The series was inspired by ethnic spiritual dances, the cultures of Northern Europe and their music in particular. But that is simply the physical part of the pieces. On a deeper level, this series looks at the manipulation of the good and evil in the world - how often, man controls these two extremes and that sometimes, bad things come out of good intentions and vice versa. In a matter such as war, one can not simply describe this as “killing”, but the idea is instead purposed as “freeing” or “improving upon a lifestyle”. This is a direct example of said manipulation, as an extremely dark concept is handled and changed to be seen as something positive or of good nature. I aimed to demonstrate this growing philosophical concept in this specific series and to draw thought and perhaps even disquiet from the viewer.
